Search with positions and letter clues

The pattern field works from left to right. For example, S?A?E means the first letter is S, the third is A, and the fifth is E. Use a question mark anywhere you do not yet know the letter.

Use the included field for letters you know must be somewhere in the answer. Use the excluded field for gray letters. If you already have a sequence of guesses and tile colors, the Wordle Solver is better suited to combining all of those clues automatically.

Five-Letter Word Finder FAQ

How do I use the five-letter word finder?

Enter a five-character pattern, using ? for unknown positions. You can also add letters that must appear and letters that must be excluded. At least one clue is required.

Can I search for letters in any position?

Yes. Leave unknown positions as question marks and add required letters in the included field. The tool checks all five positions in its local word list.

Is this an official Wordle dictionary?

No. It uses a broad five-letter reference word list. A listed word is a candidate to consider, not a guarantee that every game accepts it.
